On the afternoon of July 14, Zhejiang Newton Fluid Control Co., Ltd. and Nanjing University of Technology officially signed an industry-university-research cooperation agreement. Focusing on projects such as fluid transportation, energy-saving design, energy-saving renovation and intelligent upgrading of steam and thermal energy systems, an expert team jointly formed by professors, doctoral supervisors, doctoral students and master’s students provides technical support for the entire process of development, design, simulation and testing.

Zhou Jianqiu, Dean of the School of Energy Science and Engineering of Nanjing University of Technology, and Dr. Zhang Zhonglin were invited to visit. Newton’s management team, technical backbones and market leaders participated in the exchange.

In the in-depth communication before and after the signing, the two parties formed a highly consistent judgment on the direction of “energy-saving and smart steam system” and clarified the starting point of cooperation in technical collaboration and talent co-education. During the signing exchange, Zhou Jianqiu, dean of the School of Energy Science and Engineering at Nanjing University of Technology, said so.

He emphasized that the value of scientific research work does not lie in how complex the theoretical modeling is, nor in how beautiful the simulation diagram is, but in whether it truly serves the front line of engineering and solves practical problems on site. “No matter how good the model is, if it cannot be implemented, it is just a good-looking picture.”

Dean Zhou introduced that his scientific research team covers multiple directions such as materials, equipment, simulation, energy recovery, AI algorithms, etc., and has a complete capability chain from basic research to engineering modeling to device verification, focusing on building a practical closed loop of “data-testing-feedback-optimization”.

Before and after the signing, Newton and Nanjing University of Technology have carried out preliminary communication around system optimization, technology adaptation, platform exploration and other directions, and reached a preliminary consensus in many dimensions. At present, some cooperation matters have entered the substantive promotion stage. NUST will send senior experts and graduate teams to VMV Newton for practical training, and deeply participate in engineering practice processes such as product modeling, prototype testing, and data verification; at the same time, both parties are also exploring the construction of an energy-saving control feedback closed loop of “diagnosis-feedback-recommendation-optimization” based on customer on-site data and R&D parameters, so as to accumulate data support and logic verification for subsequent platform construction.

Although the cooperation is still in its initial stage, there is a good consensus foundation and a clear collaborative vision.

In the future, both the school and the enterprise will continue to promote the deepening of the cooperation mechanism and further open up the channel between scientific research capabilities and engineering practice.
